0064 Solo

This was one of the few drone frames I managed to capture in Hawaii. Not because the conditions weren’t right, but because confidence wasn’t. The drone had ongoing connection issues, dropping signal while it was already out over the water.

The first time it lost connection, I ran to the rocks below, heading toward where I thought it would come down. By the time I got there, it had already triggered return-to-home and flown back to where I originally launched from. It made sense logically—but in the moment, watching it disappear, it sent the heart rate through the roof.

When you lose connection with a drone over the ocean, there’s nothing you can do but wait. No control, no correction—just trust that the system works. Even when it did return, it hovered above a tree and refused to land, adding one more layer of uncertainty before it finally came down.

This frame came from that tension. One clean pass, no margin for error, knowing it might be the last flight. Solo reflects that experience—quiet, minimal, and isolated—captured in a moment that easily could have been lost to the water
